AirAsia India launches Carry On Xtra Cabin baggage service to ease the new normal of travel

Guests can now upsize their cabin baggage weight by 3 or 5 kgs on airasia.co.in with the Carry On Xtra service at half the typical checked baggage rates

National, 2 November 2021: Staying ahead of evolving travel trends and the need to extend services that deliver ease and comfort to travellers, AirAsia India today announced the launch of a new service to upgrade cabin baggage allowance - Carry On Xtra. The airline’s latest offering enables guests to upsize their cabin baggage weight from the standard 7kgs included in their fare to 10 kgs or 12 Kgs, by purchasing an additional 3kgs or 5kgs for ₹600 or ₹1,000 respectively. Carry On Xtra enables guests to carry important documents and other items along with them onboard and save time and queueing for check-in baggage at the departing destination and at the baggage belt at the arriving destination!

Understanding guests' needs and launching services that enhance their experience and empower them has been AirAsia India’s focus, in resonance with its core value of being ‘Guest Obsessed’. The Carry on Xtra, extra-baggage service feature comes at a critical time as the aviation industry is witnessing a resurgence in demand for air travel in the festive season. Cognizant of passengers' needs and understanding that the standard airline carry-on baggage weight allowances may not suffice everyone’s needs, the extra cabin baggage allowance helps facilitate a more convenient and hassle-free journey. The Carry on Xtra service can be pre-booked exclusively on AirAsia India’s new award winning website airasia.co.in on all direct and connecting flights, up to 2 hours before the scheduled time of departure. The service is available on all routes across AirAsia India’s network.

The airline’s exclusive Travel Intent Survey showcased changing consumer behaviours and preference in favour of air travel. Travellers across the country state a preference for measures that emphasize their comfort, wellbeing and safety while providing future-proof mechanisms in the new normal of travel.

Speaking about the initiative, Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer, AirAsia India said, “Our constant endeavour at AirAsia India has been to create and empower an unparalleled travel experience that provides our guests with comfort, convenience and care at every step. We are at the forefront of gauging trends and deploying new products and services to meet evolving customer needs. With corporate and family travel picking up and the increasing momentum witnessed during the festive season, our Carry On Xtra service will facilitate guests to travel with increased efficiency. Leading with our core values of People First and Safety Always, we are delighted to unveil this feature that enables more possibilities for a new world of travel.”
