Asmita Sanman Puraskar 2022: CM Shri Bhupendra Patel Honours 9 Game Changers of Gujarat!
Ahmedabad, 21st March, 2022: The Asmita Sanman Puraskar 2022, organised by ABP Asmita, recognized nine extraordinary Gujaratis who have made significant contributions to our society and have strengthened the foundation of the state through their dedication and hard work. The ceremony was telecast on ABP Asmita on March 20, 2022.
Asmita Sanman Puraskar honorees came from a wide range of professions and locations. Notable winners include Chandrakant Sompura, Architect (Culture), Bhagyesh Jha, Poet & Author (Literature), Narendra Chauhan, Teacher (Education), Bachubhai Gami, Owner, Bachu Kaka ka Dhaba (Social Service), Bhavina Patel, Indian Parathlete (Social Service), Ismail Darbar, Composer & Music director (Music), Asit Kumarr Modi, Actor & Founder, Neela Tele Films Private Limited (Entertainment), Piruz Khambatta, Chairman, Rasna (Business) and Niranjana Kalarthi (Maha Sanman).
At the event, Shri Bhupendra Patel, the Honourable Chief Minister for the State of Gujarat, acknowledged Gujarati achievers in the following categories: Education, Culture, Literature, Music, Cinema/Entertainment, Sports, Social Services, Business, and Maha Sanman, which is the highest honour bestowed upon a person for their outstanding & excellent contributions that have had a major influence on Gujarat and beyond.
The Asmita Sanman Puraskar 2022 was given to the following individuals:
1. Chandrakant Sompura, Architect (Culture): The architect of Ram Mandir, He is the 15th generation of an architectural dynasty that has created over 200 temples in India and overseas. He had designed the Ram temple model 35 years ago.
2. Bhagyesh Jha, Poet & Author (Literature): Former president of Gujarati Sahitya Akademi, Mr. Jha is a poet and author. An expert in Sanskrit literature, many of his books have been published including Vedna Sanvedana, Ane Aaa Valanke & Samaystotra. Sankochayelu Maun & Mira Ni Jem Mane Maljo & Pahad Ogalta Rahya are some of his collection of poems.
3. Narendra Chauhan, Teacher (Education): Mr. Chauhan owns a Government Primary School with his wife Sushma Chauhan. He has continued the one-of-a-kind campaign of child nutrition through vegetables grown in the school with cooperation of all. He also delivered home-grown vegetables to children not coming to school during Corona.
4. Bachubhai Gami, Owner, Bachu Kaka ka Dhaba (Social Service): Bachubhai Gami, owner of Bachu Kaka Ka Dhaba in Morbi, where he has been feeding the needy for over 40 years. Even in the midst of higher prices, he offers meals for 10 to 20 rupees or even for free.
5. Bhavina Patel, Indian Parathlete (Social Service): Recipient of the prestigious Sardar Patel Award, She is parathlete and a table tennis player from Mehsana, Gujarat. Bhavina Hasmukhbhai Patel won a silver medal in Class 4 Table Tennis at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, becoming India’s first-ever Paralympics medalist in table tennis and the second female athlete to win a medal at the Paralympic Games.
6. Ismail Darbar, Composer & Music director (Music): A film score composer, instrumentalist, violinist and music director, who is best known for his work on Devdas (2002), Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) and Shakthi: The Power (2002).
7. Asit Kumarr Modi, Actor & Founder, Neela Tele Films Private Limited (Entertainment): An Indian TV actor, producer, director and founder of Neela Tele Films Private Limited, He is known for producing the serials like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, which is the longest running serial in India. He and his team at TMKOC were among the first nine Indians nominated by PM Narendra Modi to promote his ‘Clean India’ Campaign.
8. Piruz Khambatta, Chairman, Rasna (Business): The Chairman Managing Director of Rasna Pvt. Ltd, which is India's largest and most popular soft drink brand. In 1997, he joined Rasna at the age of eighteen. Rasna today is present in more than 53 countries and has 12 manufacturing plants, 36 depots and 1.8 million outlets across India, making a host of food and beverage products. He is also an Ambassador Make in India initiative and Champion of Change (NITI Aayog).
9. Niranjana Kalarthi, (Maha Sanman): She runs a girls school founded by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Bardoli Swaraj Ashram. In addition to the Sardar Vallabhai National Memorial and Shri Navjeevan Trust, she is a trustee of the Bardoli Swaraj Ashram. She has also authored five Gujarati books.
