Avenue Plantation by Utkal Alumina: Fostering Green Belt Development in its Periphery

Tikiri: 8th Sept 2023 - Utkal Alumina International Limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited within the Aditya Birla Group, reaffirmed its dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainability with the inauguration of an Avenue Plantation project on September 8, 2023, at Andirakanch.

As part of this eco-conscious initiative, a total of 3300 saplings representing fruit-bearing, ornamental, and forest species will be strategically planted along a 5-kilometer stretch on both sides of the main road, spanning from Lundrukona Chowk to Jogiparitunda Chowk. This green corridor serves a dual purpose, not only enhancing the visual appeal of the roadside but also acting as a natural deterrent to soil erosion while providing shelter and shade to both stray animals and travelers alike.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders, including officials from Andirakanch Police Station, community members, Diploma Engineer Trainees (DETs), and Utkal Alumina employees. Mr. Binod Kumar Biswal, Sub-Inspector Police at Andirakanch PS, and Mr. Krishna Jyotishi, DGM Geology at Utkal Alumina, inaugurated this transformative initiative, alongside Mr. Manoj Das, Department Head CSR Mines, and Mr. Debasis Pattnaik, Manager HR Mines, in the presence of officials from the Police Department, Utkal Alumina, and Community Members.

Mr. Mazhar Beig, Unit Head & President Utkal Alumina, expressed the company's unwavering commitment to avenue plantation as a means to promote the wellbeing of local communities, enhance the beauty of the surroundings, and contribute to a healthier planet.

The event was impeccably organized by the dedicated Team CSR Mines of Utkal Alumina, reflecting the company's ongoing efforts towards environmental sustainability and community empowerment.
