Employees of Tata Steel Mining Donate Learning Materials to Children With Special Needs

A step towards inclusivity through employee volunteerism

Bhubaneswar, July 08, 2023: In a heart-warming display of compassion, employees of Tata Steel Mining Limited (TSML), under their Employee Volunteerism initiative, extended a helping hand to the special children of Divine Child Integral School for Special Children run by Ritwik Abha Public Charitable Trust in the city. The employees presented a sewing machine and learning materials, that will help empowering the children with new skills and opportunities for a brighter future.

The school works towards bringing the special children to the mainstream through regular intervention programmes of occupational, sensory integration, speech therapies along with special education. To make a meaningful difference in the lives of the specially-abled children and contribute to their holistic development, TSML employees extended their support to the children to learn valuable vocational skills that will foster self-sufficiency and open doors to livelihood opportunities.

Expressing gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the school and the wider community, Pankaj Satija, Managing Director of Tata Steel Mining said, “We always believe that the world would be better if we treat each person as extended part of our family and this initiative is a step towards it. We will further continue our efforts in bringing smiles to the people who need special care and attention.”

Apart from providing learning materials for the school, the employees also organised fun activities followed by gift and snacks distribution for the children. The children at the school took part in the activities wholeheartedly and enjoyed a lot.

Notably, TSML had earlier donated therapy equipment to the school.
