FedEx ‘SME Connect’ Series Enables Pharma and Healthcare Small Businesses to Leverage Global Opportunities

India, November 02, 2022 — FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, announces its seventh edition of ‘SME Connect’ on ‘Emerging Possibilities for SMEs in Pharma, Healthcare, and Life Science’. The virtual ‘SME Connect’ series is a thought leadership and knowledge sharing platform. Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can access greater opportunities by interacting with industry thought leaders and subject matter experts for solution-oriented discussions that benefit their business.

This edition of the FedEx SME Connect series focuses on industry leaders sharing business insights on pharma and healthcare trends, opportunities, and challenges. The session highlights the impact of disruptive technologies and automation on SMEs in the healthcare sector, key government policies fuelling industry growth, and how SMEs can ride the wave of global demand and opportunities, with exports sustaining a positive growth momentum despite global trade disruptions.

India plays a pivotal role in the global pharmaceuticals and vaccine industry, with 20% share in global supply volume and contributes to approximately 60% of the global vaccines. SMEs form a critical part of the supply chain, and contribute approximately 70% of India’s requirements, and 48% of pharma exports. Today the need for greater visibility, control, and flexibility in healthcare shipment solutions has become more critical than ever before.

“The COVID-19 pandemic called for a complete revolution of the pharma supply chain. As pharmaceutical demand continues to show an upward trend, a reliable and more efficient supply chain will play a bigger role for SMEs in India. The FedEx SME Connect series enables Indian SMEs to expand into new and existing markets globally and in India through engaging insights and solutions, equipping them for what’s next.” said Salil Chari, senior vice president, Marketing and Customer Experience, AMEA.

FedEx has a long history of supporting SMEs in healthcare and pharma with customized solutions that include FedEx Customized Freight for active packaging solutions along with priority boarding and monitoring, FedEx Priority Alert® that deploys dedicated experts to manage shipment activities, FedEx Thermal Blanket Solution for ambient temperature-controlled shipments, and a host of other temperature-controlled containers, categories and solutions.
