NINL Expansion To Support Local Development, Fuel Industrialisation

Development Council of Displaced Family holds press meet

In a press conference held at Duburi , the Displaced Family Development Council of Kalinganagar Duburi expressed support for the public hearing proposed expansion of the Neelachal Ispat plant. The Council stated that the increase in the plant's production capacity from 1 million tons to 9.5 million tons annually would pave the way for significant industrial and economic development in the region.

The expansion, which is set to transform the local economy, will be discussed at a public hearing scheduled for December 20th by the State Pollution Control Board, Odisha. The Council emphasised that this initiative will not only contribute to the industrialisation of Kalinganagar but also to the overall growth of the Jajpur district and Odisha as a whole.

"We believe that the increase in production capacity will result in thousands of direct and indirect jobs, benefiting local families and boosting the economy." We request that everyone extend their support for the public hearing, as it is crucial for the betterment of displaced families, land loss families and the people.

The Neelachal Ispat plant, which was closed for nearly three years due to financial losses, was acquired by TATA STEEL on July 4, 2022. The acquisition brought a wave of optimism among the displaced families and workers, many of whom had been uncertain about their future.

Tata Steel has paid all pending dues to the workers on the day of takeover .

After the expansion, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives by the company in key sectors such as health, education and agriculture will drive the development of the region.

This will foster business growth and overall progress in the area. The Displaced Family Development Council strongly supports this public hearing.
