Subarnarekha Port observes World Environment Day

Bhubaneswar/Baliapal, June 7, 2023: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Subarnarekha Port Private Limited (SPPL) with support from Tata Steel Foundation (TSF) observed World Environment Day. Under the theme of "Beat Plastic Pollution," volunteers along with staffs of SPPL, TSF and local communities participate in various activities to protect and preserve the environment.

As part of the initiative, a massive cleanliness drive was carried out from Kalipada Market to the SPPL Office in Naighati, covering a distance of about 1.5 km. The volunteers also cleaned Dagara Beach, one of the popular tourist destinations in the district. The drive aimed to collect and dispose of plastic waste responsibly and prevent it from harming marine life and the ecosystem.

The event also included several other activities to celebrate and support the environmental cause. Two sweepers from Kalipada Market were honoured for his consistent efforts to keep the area clean and hygienic. Saplings were distributed among the participants to encourage them to plant more trees and enhance the green cover. Dustbins were donated to the Shanti Market Complex and Kalipada Bazaar Committee to facilitate proper waste management and reduce plastic littering.
